What is Upper Edge?
In 2014, a group of Delta County residents began meeting to discuss the need for local networking and career development opportunities targeted toward young adults. The group recognized that the rural, small-town characteristics that make the area a great place to live, work and raise a family can present challenges connecting with peers, especially newcomers. Sharing a desire to shape the future of the community and engage young people in Delta County, the group partnered with Michigan Works! and the Central Upper Peninsula Planning and Development Regional Commission to form Upper Edge. We are a non-profit organization in Delta County engaging young adults ages 18-45 through networking, relationship building and professional development. We're looking for members who share our desire to meet people within the community, support local businesses and encourage others to appreciate what Delta County has to offer and help shape a thriving and vibrant future for the community.
Our mission is to equip the 18-45 year olds of Delta County with the knowledge, networks, skills, and confidence to develop their leadership potential, cultivate relationships, and positively impact the community through civic engagement and social action.
Upper Edge provides opportunities for the 18-45 year olds of Delta County and the surrounding area to maximize personal and professional growth and contribute meaningfully and positively to the community, so that the area continues to be a vibrant place to live, play and work.
